Wattles of Toowoomba and the Condamine Catchment

There are almost 1,000 wattle species in Australia.  Queensland’s Condamine Catchment is home to over 80 species which make a fine display especially in winter and spring.  Some are widespread and others restricted to particular locations.  They are often found on the poorer sandy or stony soils.  Development of the area over the past two centuries has meant that much of the native flora including many wattles are restricted to ever-diminishing patches of habitat, much of it roadside remnant vegetation or in state forests.   This is an extremely useful field guide for locals plus visitors to the area.
