OUT OF PRINT.  The only up-to-date, fully illustrated monograph on all Australian species of grassfinches. This book will appeal to the interested ornithologists, the wildlife art book collector and the avicultural market. In this volume Joseph Forshaw, Mark Shephard and Anthony Pridham have summarised our present knowledge of each species, and have given readers a visual appreciation of the birds in their natural habitats and in aviculture. The resulting combination of superb artwork and scientifically accurate text ensures that this volume will become the standard reference work on Australian grassfinches. Also included are text illustrations by Frank Knight.

Australian grass finches are highly popular with aviculturists. This was recognised by Neville W. Cayley in his pioneering book “Australian finches in bush and aviary”, published in 1932. Thirty years later Klaus Immelmann incorporated findings from his extensive field studies in an excellent revision of Cayley’s book. This current work recognises the importance of Australian finches in aviculture and is illustrated with colour plates depicting some of the more common variants held in Australian and overseas collections.
