There are essays on every species, on the methods and hazards of owl photography, on the threats to their survival plus a detailed field guide. The book is richly and beautifully illustrated with over 200 of the author’s photographs, taken in the wild and showing all aspects of the birds’ lives.

David Hollands is a Victorian rural doctor, ornithologist, wildlife photographer and author. He took his first bird photograph at the age of eight and has a particular interest in birds of prey and owls.  His earlier books include Eagles Hawks and Falcons of Australia, Birds of the Night, Kingfishers and Kookaburras and Owls: Journeys Around the World.
