An Atlas of the Birds of NSW & the ACT provides a comprehensive inventory and distributional analysis of the birds of New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory and the waters of the western Tasman Sea. The New South Wales Bird Atlassers (NSWBA) was formed in late 1981 and its principal aims are to determine the distribution of birds in NSW, monitor their status on a continuing basis and promote better public awareness and understanding of birds. In an exceptional and entirely voluntary expression of concern for the welfare of birds of NSW and the ACT, a great many people willingly and enthusiastically participated in this project, gathering the essential data of many millions of records.

An Atlas of the Birds of NSW & the ACT, Volume 3 is the last of three volumes and presents information on Eastern Spinebill to Common Greenfinch

Volume 3 continues the style and layout of previous volumes and covers the final 152 resident and regular migrants.  Additional sections are included discussing Supplementary species (11 new species now considered to regularly occur in NSW; endemic Lord Howe Island birds (13 species) – authored by Ian McAllan and Ian Hutton; and a thorough summary of the 80 confirmed NSW Vagrants, 52 Unconfirmed Species and 20 Introduced Species that are no longer surviving – this summary was authored by Ian McAllan and David James.

Volume 3 ends with indexes of Scientific and English names for all 3 volumes.
