Australian Aboriginal Paintings

Aboriginal painting has undergone a renaissance over the past two decades as artists express the strength and resilience of their ancient religious values and their deep connection tot he Australian landscape.  Desert communkities have preserved the content of their ceremonial ‘sand paintings’ in contemporary acrylic works on canvas.  Many of these are beautiful and contemporary designs in which the traditional ochre colours are used alongside vibrant blues, greens and oranges.

Australian Aboriginal Paintings presents an overview of traditional Aboriginal religious paintings. They are all ‘from’ the Dreaming, the Tjukurrpa, the Wonggar, the Creation, and express this now, in present day Australia.
